B2MeM20 Days 15&24 - a piece of her old life

Daily prompt: Begin your story in the middle of an important scene and watch how it unfolds from there! For non-story responses, choose a book from your shelf, open it to the middle, and choose a sentence from the middle of the page; create a fanwork starting from that point and see what develops.

"So the Seiko was useless, but Jake still found himself loath to throw it away... because, he supposed, it was a piece of his old life, and there were only a few of those left." (The Dark Towe III: The Waste Lands)

Daily prompt: He sat down on the bank at the side of the road and looked away east into the haze, beyond which lay the River, and the end of the Shire in which he had spent all his life. (The Fellowship of the Ring, Book I, Chapter 3)

Prompt generator: last line — There was only silence.

Elwing waits for Eärendil to come home.

'Lady, let us depart while there is time? What hope is there in this wood for you or for me? Here we are held in bondage, and no profit shall I find here; for I have learned all that my father has to teach, or that the Naugrim will reveal to me. Shall we not seek for Gondolin? You shall be my guide, and I will be your guard!' - Of Maeglin

B2MeM20 Day 4 - Hardened

Daily prompt: He thought he had come to the end of his adventure, and a terrible end, but the thought hardened him. (The Fellowship of the Ring, Book I, Chapter 8)

"There Maedhros in time was healed; for the fire of life was hot within him, and his strength was of the ancient world, such as those possessed who were nurtured in Valinor. His body recovered from his torment and became hale, but the shadow of his pain was in his heart; and he lived to wield his sword with left hand more deadly than his right had been." -Of the Return of the Noldor

Coming back from the dead for B2MeM

Seems this happens every year lol I disappear for months and reappear with fanart in March. But even if I'm busy (and starting my last year as a PhD student it's gonna get worse) or caught up in another fandom, Tolkien still has the #1 spot in my heart and I will make time to participate.

This year I will work less on each pic to get more done. That means they won't be the best I can do but I'll try my best (and this will be good practice too!). My original idea was to only work on four prompts from the generator before March, but life got in the way. So I'll be working on them and maybe post them at the end of the event, kind of like a grand finale (I'm hoping they'll be of better quality than the daily prompts).

So head's up, I will be posting more in one month than I did last year XD

Emlinn redraw V2

This would be the third time I'm redrawing Emlinn from Himring's The West Wind Quartet. It's interesting to see how my style changes over time. And the new one is very sketchy... it was done on impulse, to see how it'd turn out.

I also want to take a moment to congratulate Himring on creating a character and a story that has stayed with me through all these years. I checked the review I left and I can't believe it's from 2010. Almost 10 years! And I still remember it. Well done, Himring!!

OC from Himring's story West Wind Quartet. Entry for B2MeM12 Bingo Number G51

The original, back in 2012 when all I had was paper and a bad scanner

Starting a two weeks course in another city this monday, I needed something to read for the 8h bus ride. Such a lovely story! 10/10 would recommend.

IT TAKES A GRAVEYARD TO RAISE A CHILD.
Nobody Owens, known as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a graveyard, being raised by ghosts, with a guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor the dead. There are adventures in the graveyard for a boy--an ancient Indigo Man, a gateway to the abandoned city of ghouls, the strange and terrible Sleer. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, he will be in danger from the man Jack--who has already killed Bod's family.
